‘Tip of the iceberg,’: How RSS-linked weekly blames Ajit Pawar-led NCP for BJP’s poor Lok Sabha show in Maharashtra

An RSS-affiliated Marathi weekly has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) alliance with the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the party's poor performance in Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra. The BJP, which contested the Lok Sabha elections in the state in alliance with the NCP (Ajit Pawar) and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, could win only nine of the 28 seats it contested in 2024 general elections. The party had won 23 of the 48 seats in the state in the 2019 elections. Overall, the Mahayuti, comprising the BJP, the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and the Ajit…

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday hit-back at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray for accusing him of stealing party's symbol (bow and arrow), and said that they will realise the mistake they have done by abandoning ideas of late Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. Addressing Shiv Sankalp Melava at Aurangabad in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray launched an attack on Shinde camp saying, with the teachings of Balasaheb, he was proud to have won the fight using Mashal (UBT party symbol), even though bow and arrow (Shiv Sena symbol) was ‘stolen’ from him. Maharashtra Politics: Absence of BJP, Shiv Sena leaders raise eyebrows as Sunetra Pawar files nomination for Rajya Sabha

The absence of the Mahayuti alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra filed nomination for Rajya Sabha elections as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate have raised eyebrows.  Interestingly, leaders from the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) camp, another ally in Mahayuti, were also notably absent. Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Ajit Pawar, filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha after she suffered a defeat in recently held Lok Sabha elections against NCP (SP) leader and Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule.
