Puducherry experienced a hot summer this year. With no sign of rainfall, the netizens suffered from the impact of the unbearable heat of the sun. As the annual examination for classes 1 to 12 was completed on April 30, the schools were announced to reopen on June 6. However, due to this situation, the Director of School Education, P. Priyadharshini, issued a notice. It said that all privately managed institutions, government-run schools, schools aided by the government, and schools under the CBSE board would remain closed until June 12.

As the schools and educational institutions were to reopen on June 12, the teachers, along with the parents of the students, took the initiative to repair some of these schools. Similarly, the parents of the students studying at the Ecole Anglaise Government Primary School on Labourth Road decided to take the same initiative. The parents of the students at this school decided to remodel the school. They painted the school to make it look brand new and renovated the school to provide all the necessary services that are available in private schools only. All of the work of renovation and painting was done at their own expense. The parents of the students painted and renovated the chairs and tables that were already available in the school. They painted the school walls and renovated them to make them look premium. The parents also bought new equipment to help the teachers teach the students even better than before and different learning equipment for the students to have more interest in learning.

The parents of the students studying at the Ecole Anglaise Government Primary School also added new books to the library for enriched learning. They have also focused on extracurricular activities. The parents also bought musical instruments and other items for the students at the school. They also equipped the school with smart TVs, fans, purified drinking water, modern toilets, and air conditioners. All of this equipment was bought at the expense of the parents.

During the renovation process, the parents said that the school appeared to be better than the private schools after the renovation. The headmaster of the school took the initiative to renovate the school. The headmaster added, “We have made the school a model in line with private schools. In this case, parents can enrol in government schools without fear.”
