Marking a significant return, Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul are back in action for India in the upcoming 2-Test series against South Africa after recovering from their respective injuries. Bumrah last captained in a red-ball match against England, while Rahul’s last appearance was in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s 2nd Test.
The announced 16-member squad sees a maiden Test call-up for Ruturaj Gaikwad, providing depth to the middle-order alongside Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli. However, India’s success in South Africa hinges on the fitness of Mohammed Shami. Notably, the team signifies a transition, moving on from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane.
