Shantanu Deshpande, founder and CEO of Bombay Shaving Company, came to the defence of Goyal and Zomato, saying he finds those suspecting the food delivery giant of taking the tips “ridiculous”.
“Leave aside the illogical need to take a risk like commissions off tips. A public company like Zomato can find far less risky ways to increase revenue,” Deshpande said in a post on LinkedIn.

A man in Uttar Pradesh claims a sex change surgery was performed on him without his consent. Mujahid, a 20-year-old from Muzaffarnagar, says he was sedated by one Omprakash and transported to a hospital where the surgery was performed as he lay unconscious.

According to an NDTV report, Mujahid says the whole thing was orchestrated by Omprakash in collusion with doctors of a local medical college in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district.

The 20-year-old man claimed that Omprakash had been molesting and harassing him for the past two years. On June 3, Omprakash allegedly convinced the doctors of Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur to perform the surgery on Mujahid.
“He brought me here, and the next morning I had an operation. When I regained consciousness, I was told that I had been changed from a boy to a girl,” said Mujahid.
“When I woke up, Omprakash told me that I am a woman now and that he would take me to Lucknow to marry me. He threatened to kill my father if I resisted,” Mujahid was quoted as saying by India Today. He added that doctors acted in collusion with Omprakash to perform the surgery without his consent.
However, doctors of Begrajpur Medical College deny this claim. They say that Mujahid underwent sex reassignment of his own will.
Omprakash was arrested on June 16 based on a complaint made by Mujahid’s father. The case has sparked outrage, with Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) staging a protest outside the medical college.
BKU leaders say the hospital was involved in illegal organ trade and other illicit activities. “I believe there is a very big racket going on here where they remove vital organs of the body and sell them at a higher price,” says farm leader Shyam Pal.
Pal is demanding the government pay ₹2 crore compensation to Mujahid.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote on Wednesday, “Uber driving, keep talking on the phone. I am having a headache from him talking non-stop now.” Tan further asked if the cab aggregator has a rule prohibiting drivers from being on the phone.
Joonie Tan said that she lodged a complaint with Uber and added, “Hopefully when they see enough reports on such matters, the company will take this up seriously.”

Uber reponds, says ‘dangerous driving taken seriously’
Tan on Thursday revealed Uber reached out to her regarding the matter. The transportation company took note of the matter and issued an apology. In a screenshot shared by her, the company wrote, “Uber partners are expected to maintain a high standard of professional service in all trips.”
The company added, “This includes providing a safe and comfortable ride for passengers. Reports of dangerous driving are taken very seriously.”
Based on the feedback and complaint, Uber has assured that it will “review the driver-partner’s account.” It added further, “We have also taken steps to prevent your account from being paired with this driver partner for future trip requests made through the app.”
Reacting to the same, she wrote, “Uber India called and emailed. Hoping this is not just courtesy call and real action to be taken (sic).”

Customers share tips on what can be done
After sharing the incident online, Tan’s followers reached out with similar experiences and possible solutions. Based on the responses received, she also shared a summarised list of appropriate steps to take if one is in a similar situation: “Politely ask them to stop being on their phone (they might oblige or ignore).”
Other suggestions included reporting the issue on the app or via customer services or using noise-cancelling headphones.
