ASUS Vivobook S 15 Review: Snapdragon X Elite processor is the hero of this story

I have always enjoyed using ASUS laptops. I think they offer a little bit of everything for everyone — from professionals to everyday users. One thing that has held me back from giving them a perfect score has been the battery life. Now things have changed — for the better? Let’s find out.ASUS recently introduced its latest addition to the Vivobook series, the S 15 powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processor. This marks the company’s debut in the Indian market with one of the first Windows Copilot+ PCs.

Design and display

Starting with the look and feel, the Vivobook S 15 adopts the sleek, robust design of its Vivobook S16 OLED sibling. The 15.6-inch 3K OLED display is a visual delight with its 120 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. However, the 16:9 aspect ratio, while excellent for video consumption, is not ideal for reading documents or browsing web pages, which might be a drawback for some users.

While the RGB lighting on the keyboard is a flashy touch, it can be somewhat off-putting on silver keys, detracting from the overall aesthetic.

The new touchpad is what is interesting here. This intelligent touchpad supports ASUS Smart Gesture, allowing you to adjust settings, optimise screen brightness, and manage video playback with simple gestures. It’s intuitive and makes navigation a breeze.

Performance and battery lifeOne of the most impressive aspects of this laptop is its battery life, which, for me, has lasted over a day of usage even under pressure (can’t really say if it was me or the laptop).

This is a huge win for travellers and anyone who needs a laptop that can keep up with a busy schedule without constantly needing to be plugged in.

This longevity also suggests a longer shelf-life for the battery, which is great for Windows laptops that often see battery health decline in mere months.

With the new ARM-based chipset also come new capabilities — more specifically, new AI capabilities. The laptop retains the Copilot key on the keyboard but gets added functionality too.

My favourite new features include:

Live Captions: This feature provides real-time, automatically generated captions for audio content, making multimedia more accessible for users like on most Android phones. It is a great feature to have if you can’t find subtitles for your favourite movie or TV Show — both online and offline.

Cocreator: This fun and practical tool in Microsoft Paint helps users who aren’t skilled at drawing to create polished diagrams and charts or just get creative with art. Simply sketch, add a text prompt, and watch as AI refines your image in real time.

Verdict

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 is a good choice at ₹1,24,990 but being the first has both its pros and cons. If you think this Copilot+ PC is ticking all the right boxes for you, then go get it. If not, you might want to wait a little while longer to see what other OEMs bring to the table in the category. Dell, for example, also launched its Snapdragon-powered laptops recently.

Personally, I would wait till the ASUS Zenbook lineup upgrades to Copilot+ PCs.
